The Awards

The IIA WB CHAPTER-MULTIWYN ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN AWARDS 2016 FOR THE EAST ZONE are being constituted to celebrate the works of architects practicing in the eastern zone of India.

Eligibility Guidelines

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE :

Architects who are members of IIA from the chapters of Assam, Bihar & Jharkhand, Odisha and West Bengal.
Architects who have applied for IIA membership from these Chapters.
Architects who are registered with Council of Architecture and residing / practicing in the states of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Jharkhand, Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland, Odisha, Sikkim, Tripura and West Bengal..
Practicing Architects with a valid B.Arch. degree, residing / practicing in the  states of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Jharkhand, Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland, Odisha, Sikkim, Tripura and West Bengal.
Students attending colleges of architecture in these states are also eligible to participate in the Student Awards Segment.

Projects that are submitted should have been completed in the period between June 30th, 2010 to Jan 31st, 2016.

GUIDELINES FOR SUBMISSION

Please note that it is MANDATORY for participants to submit their entries in soft copy format, loaded on a CD. One CD must contain one entry only. In case of submitting multiple entries, please load one entry per CD. Submission of hard copies is optional.

1.

The submission package must include a CD containing the entry material as mentioned hereafter as well as a scanned copy of a signed declaration stating that the work is an original creation by the participant and all required permissions to submit the work for the contest have been secured.

 

The CD must contain the following:

a. Not more than Six A2 sheets in high resolution pdf or jpg format, including drawings and images or photographs. Sheets must contain name of project and location.
b. A project concept note to be provided as a Word (.doc/.docx) file on a single A4 size sheet. It must contain:
      • – Project Name
      • – Location
      • – Area
      • – Cost
      • – Year of Completion
      • – Concept note (max. 300 words)
c. The content must be clearly titled (eg. ‘Project Name_sheet 01’, ‘Project Name_sheet 02’, ‘Project Name_sheet 03’ and ‘Project Name_concept note’). The files must be put into a single folder titled ‘own name/city name/chapter name/project name’.
d. Drawings containing all finished plans, site plans, elevations, sections of the project in simple line drawings with line thicknesses (without render) in proper layers and purged files in suitable architectural drafting software.

CD must be packed in plain paper, sealed and titled ‘IIA WB CHAPTER-MULTIWYN ADI AWARDS’.

Statement of accounts, under headings as found necessary to support design fulfillment and substantiate cost involvement, may be submitted too.

4.

Only photographs will be accepted for completed projects, not software generated images.

5.

All entries are to have the name and contact details of the participant on the body of the CD. The organisers will assign a registration number to the entries and make the entries anonymous for the jury. Please note that for reasons of retaining anonymity, the registration number assigned will not be revealed to the participants.

6.

All proceedings pertaining to the awards shall be conducted in English.

7.

Participants of shortlisted entries will be asked to print their sheets for the final round and for subsequent exhibition at IIA premises, the dates of which will be announced later. The exhibition shall be open to public, free of charge. The student awards jury may be conducted separately and results for the same may be announced at a later date.

All entries must be registered by 2nd April 2016 and received at IIA WB chapter office by 8 pm on 9th April 2016. The address for the same is :

9.

IIA WB CHAPTER and MULTIWYN may decide to cancel the awards at any point of time without assigning any reason whatsoever.

10.

The jury will comprise reputed architects. Names will be announced at a subsequent date.

11.

The jury will make its award known to responsible IIA WB chapter officials in a formal statement signed by its members. The statement will indicate the number of designs examined and the order of the prizes awarded. Jury’s decision will be final in selection of winners.

12.

If a participant wishes to withdraw from the awards after registration, IIA WB chapter must be informed via email at any time up to one day prior to the date of submission.

13.

All disputes relating to or arising out of the awards shall be subject to the laws of India, and shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of competent jurisdiction at Kolkata, India.

14.

The participants must indemnify IIA, and not hold them responsible for any loss, claim, demands, costs, damages, judgments, expenses or liability (including legal costs) arising out of any dispute in connection with claims, that may be brought in connection with participation in this design awards.

15.

If sizeable (as deemed by jurors) number of entries are received from architects in the age group of “below 45″, a special award may be instituted in this category.

16.

A declaration stating that the work is an original creation by the participant and all required permissions to submit the work for the contest have been secured will need to be submitted.
